RBI: India needs major reforms in food supply management

A lack of proper storage facilities for perishable goods is causing recurring food price shocks in India, according to the country’s central bank. The Reserve Bank of India has urged the implementation of reforms to transportation networks, warehousing and storage technologies to improve productivity and efficiency, ensuring “stable prices for consumers, assured supplies and remunerative proceeds for farmers”.
